About Paul Jefferson
Hailing from the hills of Woodside CA he began listening to country music as a child. While attending U.C. Berkeley for Bioengineering, Jefferson who is also a pilot, developed a large regional following playing in a country band. Paul also landed the leading role of Hank Williams in a San Jose production of the” Lost Highway” winning a local award for his performance.
Jefferson’s unique vocal style and his remarkable song crafting skills landed him a publishing deal in LA but they knew that Nashville in where he needed to be. After moving to Music City he joined the newly created record label of Herb Albert and Jerry Moss, Almo sounds, and released his debut album in 1996 with it’s first release “Check Please” becoming a top 40 single.
In that same year, country star Aaron Tippon recorded a song written by Paul, “That’s As Close As I’ll Get To Loving You” reaching #1 on the country charts for 3 weeks. Paul has had two songs featured in NBC movies.
In 2004 Jefferson and former Little Texas band member Porter Howell created the snobbish hillbilly band called hilljack. They made two appearances on the Grand Ol’ Opry and won New Music Weekly Award’s band of the year.
In 2006 Paul and long time friend Keith Urban wrote “You’re Not My God” which Keith place on his multi platinum selling record “Golden Road”. In 2011 Paul teamed with his wife and Canadian country star Lisa Brokop to form a duo called “the Jeffersons”. Together they toured extensively throughout Canada.
In 2017 Paul teamed up with his first publishing company, 37 records, and recorded an album of favorite songs honoring the early days of living in the now famous Nashville house on Brookhollow Road.
