About Van Scott
Alt-pop singer-songwriter Scott Oatley aka Vân Scott has had the quiet success many only dream of. A sought-after singer in the Hollywood session scene, he’s had the opportunity to sing for superproducers, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins and Mike Elizondo, renowned film composers, Danny Elfman and Michael Giacchino, sung on blockbuster scores like La La Land and Jurassic World, been featured on ABC's Black-ish, and performed as a background vocalist for The Voice, to name just a few of his credits.
"...stunning, gentle vocals that burst with so much emotion" - Earmilk
"Undoubtedly one of the USA's hidden gems... Vân Scott clearly has a gift for writing songs." - Gig Goer
"It's hard to understand how he's avoided the limelight as long as he has. His talent is unstoppable" - Hollywood Digest
Now, Scott is putting his musical talent, songwriting, and production skills front and center with the release of his first full-length solo album, Almost Gone (AWAL / Oat Brand Music). All of the songs on the album were inspired by Scott's experience of doubt and uncertainty as he left his full-time church position to pursue his own music. His song "What's Coming Next?" won the overall Grand Prize in the 2021 USA Songwriting Competition – the first time a song in the Gospel/Inspirational category has taken home the top prize. The 10-song debut also includes his singles "Tough Love," "Poster Boy," Starry Eyed," "Long Time Comin'," "Don't Know the Words," and the fan-favorite, "Die Young."
