About Thought
Frenetic Brooklyn rockers Thought pack the dance floor with their unorthodox brand of rock and roll. Their undeniable chemistry shines through when this five-piece performs live, leaving audiences sweaty and satisfied. Their sound evokes comparisons to a wide range of ground-breaking artists like Talking Heads, Maceo Parker, Gillian Welch, Prince, and Bad Brains to name a few. Thought is fronted by Michael Williams and Lynn Ligammari, who both switch effortlessly between their shared vocal duties and their respective horns, bass-trumpet and alto sax. The guitar-bass-drums rhythm section often recalls funky Sly Stone grooves, the modern, glassy funk of Bowie, and the soul of Withers. This band has been marinating in their own juices for 10 years and is comfortable taking a room over with their family-style dance parties. Thought has played hundreds of concerts to thousands of people throughout the USA, Canada, and in the last five years focused their efforts on the New York City scene and playing small tours in California and the north and southeastern United States. The members of Thought have both collectively and individually shared the stage with such notables as; Brazilian Girls, Mike Gordon, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Charlie Hunter, Dresden Dolls, EL-P, Butch Morris, Wycliff Gordon, Antibalas, Kenny Wollesen, Bill Frisell and many more." ABOUT POLITICS FOR KIDS: "politics for kids: makes you feel makes you dance takes over your emotions brings smiles to your lips brings tears to your eyes politic for kids is a party." "the first time i heard thought's politics for kids, i was walking through a cold slantwise springtime rain, but i felt like i had my face turned to the clear warm sun." 13 years strong!
