About Hot Trash

HOT TRASH is compromised of violinist, singer-songwriter Kelly Halloran and musician Rocco Gardner. After making the unlikely connection while Rocco was producing the ESCAPE to New York Festival, the two quickly became friends deciding to make a record together at Dave Catching’s (Queens of the Stone Age/Eagles of Death Metal) Rancho de la Luna studio in Joshua Tree. Deeply inspired, Rocco bought a nearby property forming his own state-of-the-art recording studio Skyline Studio at Rancho V in Pioneertown, CA. Rancho V became a popular retreat for artists like Bob Moses, The Arctic Monkeys, Paolo Nutini, Peaches, and more. At the same time Kelly began touring the globe with singer/songwriter Rachael Sage, all the while continuing to write and record with Rocco under their band Your New Crush at Rancho V. In 2016, Rocco and Kelly drove across the United States and on this trip renamed the band Hot Trash. The band will release their debut album in 2018. With an eclectic range of sounds and a wealth of special guests -- Hot Trash channels the coolness of T. Rex, the starpower of Bowie, and the innovation of Beck. They touch on a range of topics from the 21st century social media craze to desert cruising. The album is a sun-baked ride that leaves the listener feeling slightly dazed. Furthermore, the debut LP, Hope in Grace, features the likes of Nikko Gibler (Ricoshëi), Chris Gross (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuus), Alain Johannes (Them Crooked Vultures, Arctic Monkeys), David Catching (Eagles of Death Metal), and Rami Jaffe (Foo Fighters). Hot Trash teamed up with Producer Stefan Skarbek (Amy Winehouse), engineer James Krausse (Beyonce, Lady Gaga), mixer Henry Krinkle and with mastering by Gavin Lursenn (Robert Plant, Foo Fighters). Since age 4, Kelly has played the using the Suzuki Method. Leaving Shelburne Falls, MA in her teens, she moved to NYC where she performed (“busking”) 1930’s jazz standards in subways and Central Park. Renowned director Clark Johnson discovered and commissioned her to score a silent film La Viager. In 2009, Kelly and ex-partner singer/songwriter Liah Alonso started a band called Left on Red, opening for several artists including Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine/AudioSlave/Prophets of Rage). Kelly has also performed with phenomenal artists such as G Love & Special Sauce, Michael Franti and Spearhead, SOJA, Pete Huttlinger (John Denver), Chad Stokes (Dispatch), Kristy Lee and Dirt Road Revival, Ethan Tucker, Beverly McClellan, CJ Chenier (Zydeco King), Dina Fanai & Bob Kinkel (Trans Siberian Orchestra), and Mary Fahl (The October Project). we're the spawn of the digital age, go ahead like our page! shotbyrocco and KDfiddler's debut album recorded somewhere in joshua tree... stay close!
