Steve Masakowski

Steve Masakowski has long been regarded as one of the top jazz artists and educators in the city of New Orleans. Born and raised in New Orleans, he grew up surrounded and influenced by the rich musical traditions of the city. Masakowski has been a fixture of the New Orleans jazz scene since the early 80's, performing regularly at clubs and festivals throughout the region. He gained national recognition for his work with the critically acclaimed modern jazz group, Astral Project, his collaborations with Ellis Marsalis and Rick Margitza which earned him a devoted following and multiple awards and nominations.
As a recording artist, he has released numerous CD’s including two on the prestigious Blue Note Records label,and has been an active member and composer for
the award winning New Orleans jazz group Astral Project. Along with several guitar trio and quartet recordings, Steve has collaborated with his daughter Sasha, and son Martin on three MAZ Family band Cd's.
