About Edward Hartline

1995- Born, Montgomery, Alabama. Has 2 older sisters, Evelyn and Margeaux. Sang along with everything, misheard lyrics to the amusement of family, and made up other songs, all to the Power Rangers Theme. 2006- Asked permission to sit in on drum line camp for high school marching band. After the week-long camp, with no other formal training, was invited to perform with the band on the field for the next season, the only 6th grader to do so. 2007- Told a girl that he liked her. She said she was moving to another state. Dug out Evelyn's old acoustic guitar and wrote a song on the only string. (It did not involve the Power Rangers Theme.) 2008- Taught himself guitar. 2009- Posted YouTube cover of Bobby Long's 'Who Have You Been Loving?', which prompted a shout out from Bobby on Twitter, resulting in almost 1000 video views in 72 hours. First performance, Coffee & Co, Millbrook, AL. Home-recorded EP, Lagniappe. 2010- Received first airplay on FearlessRadio.com: 2 songs reach #2. Fan base spread from U.S. to Canada, Chile, India, Australia, and Europe. Summer artist in residence for Starbucks Blues on the Boulevard. Taught himself piano. 2011- Recorded CD, Candy for Bread Map, at Jeff Pike Studios, Atlanta, GA. 'You're to Blame' hit #1 on FearlessRadio.com. 'Waffles at One' featured in film short 'Samsara' at 2011 Richmond 48 Hour Film Festival. Toured southeast US, playing 10 shows in 7 states in just over 2 weeks. Played Birmingham Arts and Music Festival. 2012- Independent Music News included 'You're to Blame' on compilation album, Folk Artists 2012. Listed in top 75 acoustic indie artists not to be missed by Indie Music Reviewer. Candy for Bread Map received 5 stars from Music Review Unsigned. Performed with three of his musical influences. 2013- Released EP hartline. Launched Indiegogo campaign to raise $2000 for equipment and materials to record second CD. Goal met. Placed in Top Ten in the WorkPlay Theater Singer/Songwriter competition. Jess Meuse won 1st place. Opened for Surviving Allison at WorkPlay. Opened for Lee Lindsey during her Flower Power Tour. One of 13 invited acts to perform for Only About the Music-Artists for Autism charity event, Fairfax, VA. Released EP Lost. Saw Mike Nesmith (The Monkees) in concert. 2014- Toured Florida, Texas, and Louisiana. Played unofficial SXSW showcase. Saw Don McLean in concert. Won 1st place WorkPlay Theater's 2nd Singer/Songwriter competition. Played Sofar Sounds (Austin and D/FW). Named Artist of the Month and Song of the Month ('Gone Tonight') by ChessboardRadio.com. Opened for Von Grey. Opened for Bobby Long. Recorded at Spotlight Sound Studio, Alpharetta, GA Released CD Human Nature. Joined Montgomery Area Musicians Association (MAMA). Performed with Jessica Meuse. 2015- WorkPlay Singer-Songwriter Series Winners concert. Played Sofar Sounds D/FW weekend. Named Emerging Artist of 2015 at Blast on the Bay, Port St. Joe, FL. 2016- Won 1st place at Moonlight on the Mountain open mic shootout. Recorded at Higher Ground Studio. Moved to Massachusetts.
