About Curveball

The following is some tidbit information of each individual which makes the melting pot known as "Curveball". Ian Kerr (Sodus, NY): People always told me I had an ear for music. As a kid I used to mimic what I heard on the radio and play it on the piano while tossing in a harmony that wasn't included originally. Growing up, I listened to the oldies with my dad and we would sing along with them together. My dad was one of the many people who has inspired me and got me started. While I started on keyboards as a child I began playing the bass guitar in 2007, and have mainly been the bassist in all my band experiences. It didn't take off until I was with Pink Cadillac for the 3 year tenure, and explored/experimented with Country Magic. With that much in mind, I really enjoyed working with chemistry through Black Ice, having to work with people whose personalities clicked. With Curveball I'm entering uncharted territory in the instrumental department by adding rhythm guitar to my list of instruments played. I always aspire to improve. I don't see myself as a great musician, nor am I really a master at it. I'm still learning, still evolving, still exploring. Kim Kotel (Lima, NY): I distinctly remember waiting for the bus in kindergarten making up songs. I have always sung. For most of my life it was in chorus where I learned how to blend and how it feels to be "in" the music. There is little that feels more exciting than the sweet blend of harmony of voices. I came late to the band experience only getting in my first band in January of 2010. My experience was short lived as the band collapsed and I was left only three months later wondering if I should try again. I was surprised by the volume of response to a Craig's list ad and despite the drive I tried out for a band that rehearsed an hour and half from home. It was worth every mile. My almost four years with Black Ice taught me more than one could imagine. Not only about performing but about sound set up, band chemistry, booking and PR. With Curveball I plan to use all I have learned so far and hope to continue to grow and keep doing this "band thing" I have grown to absolutely LOVE. Curveball covers a blend of Modern, Classic, and Southern Rock with even a few Modern Country hits. Let us throw you a "curve".
