About Ricky J Fan Page

Ricky J’s star burst into the recording heavens when his playful anthem NO MEANS NO soared to #2 on the Billboard Canada single sales charts. While millions marveled at his overnight success, true fans knew that the singer had paid his musical dues starting as a teenager in Montreal dance clubs. His determination, talent, and hard work had paid off. Soon after charting, Ricky J was signed by Warner Bros. Records which released his debut album LOSE CONTROL which immediately found an audience and critical praise. The following year, anxious to explore his creativity, he signed with indie label Evolution Record and released his second album WHITEBOYS featuring the singles GOTTA MAN (with R & B duo We-R) and HOLD ON. Both singles enjoyed heavy rotation on stations throughout Canada and kept him in that nation’s spotlight. The kid who started in Montreal clubs soon found himself opening for major acts like Eminem, TLC, Usher, Wyclef Jean and Ja Rule. Fame and fortune swirled around him – the intoxicating images in his music videos becoming a daily reality for the young artist. But music wasn’t just about performing for Ricky J, it was a profession he wanted to embrace with his whole heart and soul. So, at the height of his meteoric rise to popularity, the artist dumbfounded his peers when he repositioned himself in the music industry, delving into songwriting, booking artists, artist and development and management, and producing. He didn’t stop there. In the last 2000’s he turned his attention to event producing with a close friend. The result was A-List Ent, which has gone on to produce the hottest celebrity parties in Canada including those for Lady Gaga, Pitbull, Kevin Rudolf, Ron Browz, Kaya Jones of the Pussycat Dolls, DJ Kay Slay, Keri Hilson, Bow Wow, Mstrkrft, Snoop Dogg, and Nelly among others. In 2010, Ricky J delighted fans by stepping back into the studio. While people say lightening doesn’t strike twice, especially in the music industry, that hasn’t stopped this pioneering artist from bottling it and setting the world on fire once again with his signature sound. His single WHATTA NIGHT shot up the CANADIAN HOT 100 chart and peaked at #42 – not bad for a singer who had not released a single for six years. WHATTA NIGHT also landed at #15 on Media Base and BDS Radio Charts. It also received airplay on Canada’s hit show SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, reached #5 on Itunes, and was Certified a GOLD selling digital single. Last year, the single earned him his first SOCAN Award for best Anglophone Song. This year, Ricky J is looking to bring his music to the United States. And with American audiences already enthusiastically embracing him via social media sites like Youtube, it is only a matter of time before Ricky J’s lightening strikes thrice. "Whatta Night" "Paint The Town" "Waitin 4 You"
