About Sweet Eureka

With a nod to the masters of the past, as if Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry joined Black Sabbath and Band of Gypsys,
Sweet Eureka cranks out power trio rock that takes you on a ride from raw blues to punky pop with a rock-hard center.

Frontman/guitarist Jamie Victor (Alright Junior, Victor Victor Band, Jeanette Lynne), drummer Ari Miller (Surgeon), and bass player Patrick Polli (Thee Misfit Toys, Pure Hell, Steve Haley) are no strangers to the Philly/NYC music scene and it’s no coincidence that every band they each have been in before has been recognized for live performance.
Philadelphia is a melting pot of styles and sounds, and as native sons of this city, Sweet Eureka crafts a melodic, adventurous vibe that many have hailed as a mix of classic and new, loud and blues, a la Queens of the Stone Age, the Black Keys, Rival Sons, Jimi Hendrix, and Fugazi.

While the sound captures your ears and ass, the songs will take your heart and soul...sweet ballads, breakup songs and blues tales surge into sing-a-long rock anthems and stoner headbangers...all colored with guitar flash-and-slash, precision-targeting depth-charging drums, and death-from-below bass.

The debut record, Tough Luck, covers an incredible range of emotions, and Jamie admits it is the culmination of some deeply personal experiences, the bitter end and ensuing examination of a long-long-term personal relationship, and also the end of the beloved Victor Victor Band.

It was recorded at family friend Chuck Jopski’s Studio 740 Sound, to 24-track analog tape, only after a year of pre-production at Patrick’s home studio at the semi-notorious Naughtyland Ranch, previously a breeding ground for alt-rock power-goth legends Thee Misfit Toys.

The record’s diversity is a lot like Ari’s neighborhood of West Philadelphia, truly one of the city’s most eclectic areas. It’s a place where an environmental engineer can spend years playing in one of the city’s progressive metal bands, Surgeon, then leave to take that power, along with a practically diametric groove love of Sly and the Family Stone and Tower of Power, to this new unit.

When you hear the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin, a myriad of music styles are approached, the family vibe applied, and the results are familiar, yet unique. Timeless. And like those legends, Sweet Eureka just wants to welcome you along for the ride.
