ABOUT
MEGAN ARIAL·MONDAY, APRIL 23, 2018
Although M E G A N A R I A L might be new to Music City, music has been an integral part of her life story. Megan discovered her purpose from a very early age. She recalls, “My mom said I could hum the tune to the ‘Barney’ theme song before I could even talk. Music has always been a huge part of my life and who I am today.”
M E G A N A R I A L moved to Nashville January 2017 to pursue her dream of making it in the music business as a singer-songwriter. New to town, she hit the ground running and has never looked back. Every night meant attending live shows, meeting other artists and songwriters, some of which turned into lasting relationships and co-writing comrades. She performed at some of Nashville’s most famous venues including “Douglas Corner” and “The Commodore Grill”, where others have been discovered.
In Feb 2017, M E G A N A R I A L entered “Nashville Rising Star” a popular songwriter-open mic contest. Out of 250 contestants, she made it all the way to the final 4, and was the audience popular vote winner. Through her accomplishment, she met Nashville Rising Star creator, Keith Mohr, and Nashville Artist Development President, Jason Wyatt, who was one of the contest judges. They saw her potential, and have been working to develop her talent and expand her career.
Before Nashville, M E G A N A R I A L had a long history of performing in her hometown of Los Angeles, CA. Starting in school choirs and musical theatre. Her talents were showcased in various venues including Disneyland and Carnegie Hall. It was at this time when she discovered the craft of songwriting. "When I was younger, I didn’t have a lot of friends, so I turned to writing words down to document my feelings. These words turned into rhymes and then I put the rhymes to music and before I knew it I was writing songs. It was a healthy outlet for me to express who I was and what I was going through at the time.”
At age 13, M E G A N A R I A L had the opportunity to attend “American Idol Camp”. American Idol Camp was a 3 week invitation only, on-site camp held in Boston where attendees received comprehensive training and opportunities to share their talent. Because of her application, she was picked to be showcased on “The Today Show” both before and after the camp.
M E G A N A R I A L continued writing songs and started playing her own music live at venues such as The Glendale Marketplace. She was discovered by an executive at Universal Studios City Walk and was invited to audition to be a CityWalk emerging artist. As a "CityWalk Emerging Artist," She was featured again on the “Today Show” with Kathie Lee and Hoda singing her own version of Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory. Also at the time she released her own CD, "Waiting in the Wings” at age 16. The project had 10 original songs.
Throughout the years growing in the music business and performing live, M E G A N A R I A L learned many things. The most important is to be true to herself and her artistry. “It’s important for me to remember why I wanted to be an artist in the first place. I first started this as an outlet for myself, but then It became so much more. I want to be a positive role model for others and show them that working hard and never giving up on yourself and who you are really does pay off.”
