RMS Olympic

Nathanael Meadows is a seasoned veteran of the West Coast punk rock scene. After years of writing for and leading punk band The Martyrs, Meadows adopted the moniker RMS Olympic (named after the famously ill-fated RMS Titanic’s sister ship) in 2010 while living in Los Angeles. Feeling creatively restricted by punk sensibilities, RMS was to serve as an outlet for more eclectic songwriting and arrangement. The debut RMS Olympic EP was released in mid-2011. In 2013, Meadows recorded and released his first solo full length album, Old Reliable. The songs on OR were written over the two years previous to its release, many while touring the UK and US playing mandolin for old-time string band the Old Tire Swingers. Recorded in Hollywood, CA, Old Reliable is a stripped down, intensely personal voyage through the mind of an overcaffeinated rebel as he tries to simultaneously make sense of his painful past and decide who he wants to be moving forward. In May of 2014, Nathanael and his girlfriend (now wife) Ashley relocated to Portland, Or. Meadows is currently enrolled at Portland State University where he is studying music theory and technology.
