Emmet Cohen

The most fabulous show - everyone in the trio was outstanding. Emmet is a wonderful pianist and composer. They played a variety of songs and each was superb. I understand that the earlier show was great and totally different music was played. My friend kept remarking that the intimacy of the theater made the experience remarkable. I am a true fan, will see Emmet whenever he comes to town.

What a wonderful concert. I have been waiting a while to hear Emmet Cohen live and it was well worth the wait. He plays with such "Joy" in each and every song. I will be watching Emmet and his trio again this Friday night on the SFJazz live feed.

Phenomenal artist. The trio just fed off each other’s energy the entire set. The crowd was engaged and respectful of the listening environment. The dinner buffet included with the $100 ticket was way above expectations. Kudos to the doubletree. It has been several years since we attended a show here. We will be back!! We can’t wait to hear and experience Emmet on the Jazz Cruise next January!!

It was a magical evening of music. Each artist was amazing solo, and with Emmet as their lead, the synergy when they played together made for memorable moments. Emmet is a virtuoso on the piano, as a composer, and as a band leader.

Emmet and his trio were great. Mr Cohen has respect for those that came before him, an education to fully understand the musical reason they were great and quite enough skill and heart to move Jazz into the future. Want to see what’s up with him? Check out his YouTube channel. Since lockdown in 2020 he has been posting on Monday nights. Mostly these are concerts from his Harlem residence.

The performance by Emmett, Phil and Kyle was wonderful. Venue was equally enjoyable, a perfect size for this trio. These musicians are the future of jazz. Influenced by giants of the past, they individually and collectively have original spins all their own. Would recommend if they are coming through your town.

A wonderful concert! All the musicians were superb. I love the club, it is just the right size for intimate music. Just like I like it. Thank you Emmet for providing music throughout the pandemic. It kept my soul alive and I’m sure many others feel the same way. I look forward to my next opportunity to attend another of you performances.

A major treat to hear/see the talented and personable Emmet Cohen again and the trio he put together was fabulous. Catalina Club was not up to par with late entry and late start time for the program. Fortunately Emmet and group more than made up for it!

Emmet Cohen is an amazing pianist and he brought with him three other excellent musicians. It was the third time that I have heard him and each time gets better! He gets such joy from music and is so enthusiastic about it. He continues to gather more and more fans not only by his fabulous concerts but by the way he shows his love of people and his appreciation of how important music is to bring us altogether. It was sublime! Emmet, T.J and Phillip blew the audience away. I particularly liked the communication between Emmet and TJ as they messed around with the rhythm. They are masters, and I hope they liked their welcome to Saskatchewan enough to come back some time. I never saw anyone with a touch like Emmet's. Phillip stole the show with a brilliant solo. What can I say? When you're the best you're the best!

It was a beautiful night in Harlem. Emmet and Miguel Zenon blew the roof off the place. As if his music wasn't dazzling and joyous enough, Emmet's words once again showed his deep intelligence and big heart. Who can get enough of this young maestro? Not me. Kyle and Yashushi were thrilling too. I got a special kick out of exchanging big grins and nods and ovations with the fella sitting next to me. Only afterwards did we introduce ourselves. It was Emmet's father George. He has reason to be proud.

The music was exciting, whether hearing it as a group or individually! Emmet makes it all seem effortless, but we know better. I do think he is respected by those who play with him and those of us who listen. How lucky I and we are to be living in this area! We in Northern Illinois area are more than lucky to have The Jazz Showcase in Chicago!

Excellent show with the musicians enjoying the show, frequently smiling at each other. Emmet Cohen's piano playing was amazing. The bass of Philip Noris was noteworthy, and the drumming of Kyle Poole was excellent. After intermission, Benny Benack III joined with his trumpet and voice, making the show even more fun. This was the first event we have attended at the Tucson Jazz Festival, and it will not be the last! We started following Emmet Cohen and the Emmet Cohen Trio about 3 years ago during the start of his live streams. When we saw he would be in Arizona, we immediately purchased tickets. The concert was non-stop and high energy. Fabulous musicians in this trio. The concert was outstanding. Cannot say enough good things about them. Highest Recommendation. The venue was nice. We could have gone to see Emmet inside in Mesa, AZ, but we opted to drive to Tucson and do the outdoor venue. We were a bit concerned about outdoors as it had been raining earlier in week, but we bundled up and it was actually sunny and gently warm for a bit. One hiccup: The time on the dice app said doors open at 3:00 but actually the concert started about 3:00 and doors opened about 2:20. We were glad we had gone early.

It is always very special to her Emmet Cohen and Mary Stallings perform together. Each one is an exceptional artist but the connection they have together is extraordinary. The instrumentalists also were wonderful and Dizzy’s is probably my favorite jazz room in the City. Not too big but spacious. Tables have space between them. The view of the park is beautiful and the acoustics are great. What more could one want?

Well, great musicians and singer, great music. Only, rather short concert, within that quite a big part of just talking. One would expect more music for the price of the tickets and the compulsory consumation at Dizzy‘s Club. And then, after the show, we had to quickly pay, take the last sip and make way for the clients of the second set. So, a forced, quick, abrupt change of scenery, that I didn‘t really like. As an european, I‘m not used to this kind of jazz-club-organisation.

The artist was inspiring, entertaining, and an absolute joy to meet. He interacted with all those who wanted to meet him personally, signed unlimited autographs and hugged and spoke to many. What a humble star! I was thrilled. The venue was excellent. The performers were close to the audience, and the atmosphere was very intimate. It could not have been better. Thank you, Emmet Cohen for coming to UC Davis at Davis, CA.

What an extraordinary treat. Just hearing Emmet Cohen is itself something special. But his guests were each extraordinary. Lucy Yeghiazaryan is a young swinger. Reminds me of Anita O’Day. Johnny O’Neal is a senior master who not only is a great pianist but a sweet moving singer. And then there’s the Queen, Mary Stallings, who has it all, amazing musicianship and beautiful to look at. The combination was out of this world!

The most amazing talent to come along in a generation. Emmet and his trio mates, Yasushi Nakamura and Kyle Poole show their jazz chops with new fresh compositions and take old standards to new and exciting heights. Every time you hear Emmet it’s as if you’re hearing him for the first time. He keeps it fresh and exciting and takes us on an unparalleled musical journey through his virtuosity and passion, keeping jazz alive.

Fantastic show as always! 2nd drummer was amazing, especially when you heard he joined up for the show because he just happened to be in town that night. The concert went to a whole other level when the musicians decided they would switch instruments mid- song without stopping.
