About Rachel Belman

Rachel Belman is a singer/songwriter with a desire to connect with her listeners through the lyrics and music she composes. Her interest in music began at the age of three when should would walk around the house singing songs she had heard at church and on the radio. While still a young child, she and her best friend, Chelsea Graves, who often travels and performs with Rachel, began singing at weddings and special events. As teenagers, they began leading worship for their youth group, and whenever they were together, music was always present. They could spend hours in the pantry singing the ingredients from soup cans or harmonizing with the coffee maker. Rachel recently graduated from Fresno Pacific University with a degree in English and has now embarked on her full-time calling to share her music around the world. Her music and lyrics are a result of experiences encountered in her twenty-two years of life. She is inspired by her love for people and desire to impact lives in a positive way. She says, "Love, heartache, and joy are emotions unique to our humanity and music is a gift from God, designed to affect our entire being." As a young girl, Rachel had a desire to enter the mission field with the message of salvation through the redemptive message of her Lord. Like her grandparents, who were missionaries in Guatemala for several decades, Rachel has a heart for wounded and hurting souls around the world. In May, Rachel became an ambassador artist for Kids Alive International and shares the amazing work of this ministry when she performs or visits churches and Christian organizations. As part of their ministry, Kids Alive currently runs a home in Guatemala for abused girls. Rachel shares the impact this mission is having on these young souls as part of her message of the church’s call to touch the world at large. Rachel recorded her first album at the age of 18. “The Broken”, from this debut album, In Your Light has played on terrestrial radio in North America and was voted Best Indie Christian Song of the Year by the Indie Music Channel. The album itself was voted Album of the Year in 2012 among all genres. After the success of her first album, In Your Light (2010), Rachel’s latest album, The Call, was recorded in Nashville with Grammy winning producer, Mitch Dane and released in November of 2012. Among Christian artists, Mitch has produced Jars of Clay, Bebo Norman, Brandon Heath, and JJ Heller as well as many others. His work with Rachel’s angelic voice and organic sound has helped to bring immediate popularity to her new album. Rachel was once again recently honored in Hollywood by the Indie Music Channel. She was voted Best Female Contemporary Christian Artist for the second year running. Songs from both albums are featured in movie soundtracks. The movie, Secrets in the Fall, features Rachel’s song, “Believe” and is set to release in the fall of 2013. You can learn more about Rachel at www.rachelbelman.com or follow her on facebook and twitter at www.facebook.com/rachelbelmanmusic and www.twitter.com/rachelbelman.
