Banjzig

BANJZIG is the top traditional Celtic-folk-glam-horror-punk-rock band in the entire central Footscray area. Blending the brooding menace of Danzig and the wizardry of Ozzy with choice cuts from favourite punk and rock miscreants including the Misfits, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Motörhead and Thin Lizzy, BANJZIG takes familiar tunes and plays them like you’ve never heard them before… on banjo, piano accordion, lagerphone and the dreaded (by other band members) ‘banjipipes’. They throw the whole lot in with an eclectic mix of Irish Celtic tunes, ranging from sean-nós children’s songs circa the 14th century to songs about the Anglo-Norman invasion of Ireland in the 12th century. The result is loud, strange, highly danceable and often more historically educational than anyone asked for.
