Late City Edition

Late City Edition are a Dublin-based rock ‘n’ roll band formed in late 2010 who have established themselves in recent years as an emerging force on the Irish music scene. Their sound draws upon various elements of the rock, folk and soul movements of the 60’s through to the Indie/Britpop explosion of the 90’s with the main focus as always to produce catchy anthemic melodies which can be easily transferred from the studio to the live stage. The band consists of song-writing partners Al Richardson (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jay Ritchie (guitars, vocals, keys) and Stephen Mooney (guitars, backing vocals) with Chris Hogan (Bass) and Darren Gorey (Drums) and although there have been a number of rhythm section changes over the years this has proved to be the most steady and consistent line-up, true to the sound and vision of the band. Their debut single ‘Sunday Morning’ and follow up single ‘She Saves My Soul’ which were very well received, garnered some success in the Irish download charts and opened the doors to support slots with acts such as John Power (Cast, The La’s), Simon Fowler’s Merrymouth (Ocean Colour Scene), Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene, Paul Weller), Paddy Casey and The Parlour Flames featuring Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs (Oasis) to name a few. As well as touring with some of these artists the band have played headline shows in some of the best venues in the country and also in the UK and are set to expand upon this in the coming months as they work towards the release of their debut album which is in post-production and set for a February 2016 release. The album which features some live fan favorites as well as new material displays the progression the band have made both as songwriters and as a musical collective since their early incarnations and it’s foot-tapping first single ‘Blink of an Eye’ looks set to be unveiled in advance of the album with a release date to be confirmed soon. The band are currently putting together a live show for upcoming support slots with The Complete Stone Roses in Dublin and Belfast in December as well as a Retro Revival headliner in January followed by an album launch party in February.
