About O'B

Rory O’B is one of Scotland’s biggest emerging hip-hop talents. Bringing together elements of new-age folk, punk rock and hip hop, Rory balances an obsessively precise flow with intelligent wordplay and often profound writing. His distinctive blend of Scottish hip hop, pseudo-political anthems and punked up folk guitar is inspired by modern life on the West Coast of Scotland, and has helped establish Rory as a completely unique artist in Scotland’s hip hop scene. Rory began rapping in hometown Oban, collaborating with a body of talented local artists including K9 Kev and Dave Ayling, before breaking through into the scene in Glasgow. Since then he has gone on to work with artists across the country including The Girobabies’ Mark McGhee (AKA Jackal Trades) and fellow hip-hop breakthrough act Ciaran Mac with whom he regularly plays live in one of the most enthralling double acts in Glasgow’s music scene. He has made appearances at some of Scotland’s best independent venues and festivals in the country - including King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, Madhatters in Inverness, the Loch Lomond Boat Party and Kelburn Garden Party – and continues to turn heads across venues and nights up and down the country. The much anticipated release of his forthcoming E.P. ‘Quit Rapping’, is scheduled for 05/11/16 and is an ode to the musical career of his early 20s and his growth as both a creative artist and a person in the face of self-doubt and the pressures of modern life in Scotland. A collection of five carefully crafted compositions, expect rousing choruses, ingenious wordplay and ultimately work that’s as reflective, culturally significant and fun as it is relatable. It is set to be one of the biggest Scottish hip hop release of the year. When you couple the release of this exciting project with Rory’s ever-expanding schedule of big gigs and nights, it’s clear to see that this innovative 24-year-old Scottish hip hop artist is only just getting started.
