About The Diplomats of Solid Sound
The Diplomats of Solid Sound is a soul/jazz group from Iowa City, IA that performs music in the spirit of Booker T. & The MG's, The Bar-Kays and The Ventures. The current members of the band are Doug Roberson on guitar, Nate Basinger on Hammond Organ, Jim Viner on drums and percussion, and David Basinger on sax.
In July of 2006 the Diplomats added dedicated vocalists to the mix in the form of The Diplomettes. The Diplomettes are Sarah Cram, Kathy Ruestow, and Abbie Sawyer. In 2008 this collaboration resulted in The Diplomats of Solid Sound & The Diplomettes LP on Record Kicks, recorded live and produced by Lack Of Afro.
In July of 2006 the Diplomats added dedicated vocalists to the mix in the form of The Diplomettes. The Diplomettes are Sarah Cram, Kathy Ruestow, and Abbie Sawyer. In 2008 this collaboration resulted in The Diplomats of Solid Sound & The Diplomettes LP on Record Kicks, recorded live and produced by Lack Of Afro.
