Lee Greenwood puts on such a fantastic show. He sounds great. Has a terrific crowd interaction and his music is the best! I always try to see him when he’s in town.

Absolutely incredible! Lee is 81 years old and still performing like he did 40+ years ago.
I saw him in 1994, so getting to experience him again 30 years later makes my heart so happy!
Wish he would've stayed around to meet and greet and sign, but I get not being up for it...at 81...after performing. But a fantastic show, so NO complaints!!

Lee was IT. IT stands for outstanding. His skill is an example for all younger entertainers. His action at his age is great example. Would be nice if the US President had his skills.

This was my 30th time seeing him in concert and was again fantastic I was able to get my poster signed afterwards and picture with him although I was upset with how I was treated by some of security at the venue that is a different story but lee never disappoints

Lee Greenwood was great I would have rather have him be on stage more then the musician before him. His songs were not at all patriotic

Lee Greenwood was amazing. Great concert!!! He is the best. Outstanding performance and tribute to veterans 🇺🇸
We were very disappointed in the marketing and promotion for the concert. It should have been a sell out. We saw the ad in the Express quite awhile ago and it took forever to be able to get tickets. Should have had much more advertising and tickets on sale well in advance of the concert. Especially sad since proceeds were to benefit veterans.

It was a Fantastic show, very patriotic and entertaining. It brought tears to my eyes a few times. I know the younger generation has probably never knew his music but it would be nice if they could see the show to experience the patriotism. Lee is a very talented musician and has been touring over 40 years. Today’s USA seems so fragmented and so much hate towards others that we don’t even know. So many think that the world revolves around them and they can do whatever they want. We’re all Americans and should treat each other as such.

Lee Greenwood: 4/15/23 “My heart went drifting down a dusty Dixie road —well it wasn’t actually dusty and it wasn’t exactly Dixie. It was Highway 11 into Walhalla SC, Gateway To The Blue Ridge Mountains where Melvin Lee Greenwood, 80 brought his ‘American Spirit Tour — A Night Of Hits’ to the Performing Arts Center Saturday evening. Also coined ‘A Farewell Tour’ on at least one site, there was no chance I was going to overlook the opportunity of seeing him LIVE for the first time (and quite possibly the last) ever. The rescheduled show was a one off for Lee traveling in and out from Tennessee between a March date in Florida and his next date later this month on the 25th in Tucson. Greenwood who released 22 studio albums in 21 years beginning in 1982 spawned 40 singles including 7 #1’s. I made my way up the venue isles to my front row seat orchestra left ready for an evening full of 80’s country at her best! The stage was set with a microphone and keyboard positioned center for Lee and from left to right in a semi-circle behind him: keyboards, acoustic guitar, drums, bass, electric guitar. The stage lights prior to showtime illuminating the set were (you guessed it) red, white and blue! At 7:34 p.m. the band came on to a medley of hits awaiting Mr. Greenwood who would take the stage for an exactly 2 hour / 21 song set beginning with 1990’s #14 ‘We’ve Got It Made’. With a simple shout-out ‘WALLL-HALL-LA’ he rolled through #46 ‘Between A Rock And A Heartache’, #7 ‘Ain’t No Trick’, #1 ‘Hearts Aren’t Meant To Break’, and #5 ‘Ring On Her Finger’ all performed in perfect vocal form. Pausing to catch his breath he informed the full house that ‘Ring’ and the next song up #1 ‘Dixie Road’ were written within twenty minutes by the same trio of writers Goodman, Rose & Kennedy. Reminiscingly he noted, ’twenty-five or thirty years goes by and when it does it’s like it’s just so quick and the fans have been so generous… this is our fortieth year touring!’ It wasn’t however only his own recorded hits that we were treated to on the night of hits tour, Lee who had recorded ‘Love Will Find It’s Way To You’ long before Reba (although unreleased as a single) played his own version of the song. Greenwood who had been up to now holding the mic took to the keyboards for a version of Dave Loggins’ 1974 ‘Please Come To Boston’ which he mentioned was the song that landed him his first record contract. Later in the set he also performed his version of Bette Midler’s ’89 number one ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ which he was actually the first artist to record. He paused to acknowledge a longtime fan of 40 years whom he recognized in the front row (a concert buddy of mine Kim), ‘God bless you I love you, come over here and we’ll get a picture together.’ There were band intros featuring the group of musicians he has gathered from around the country. There was Cincinnati Matt on guitar, Miami Mike (bass), Virginia Jeff (also on guitar), Kentucky Doug Carter on keys, and Justin Ward from Louisiana on drums, each member talented enough to play for any singer and humble enough to quietly back the multi-award winning singer/songwriter/headliner. The first half of his set ended with #73 ‘Before I’m Ever Over You’ and #7 ‘She’s Lying’ prior to a brief (18 minute) intermission. Returning with tenor saxophone in hand Lee delivered an incredible jazz driven (unknown to me) instrumental. Ladies and Gentlemen he can blow a horn with the best of them! Once upon a time Lee had played with ‘The Champs’ so what better song to feature on sax then ‘Tequila’ with the crowd shouting out the familiar TEQUILA on cue. ‘That was about an eight’ Lee said kindly questioning our level of intensity and challenged us to reach a ’10’ over the next two tries —which we did without any additional coaxing on his behalf. Next up was a cover of Osborne Brother’s ‘Rocky Top’ prior to which he surprised the band by announcing for the first time to them a future Opry date of July the 5th. In addition to the hits and covers there were plenty of real life tales of the road and of family life, often humorous and with a few jokes mixed in. For example, when mentioning his monogramed tour bus, ‘we go down the road you know truckers pass us honking we get a lot of this (makes the okay sign) some of that (the middle finger) but mostly this’. ‘I think it’s important when people want to know what an entertainer’s life is like “it’s hell”, (said jokingly with audience laughs), I have the most blessed life!’ ‘You’ve Got A Good Love Coming’ #9 and the #1 crossover I.O.U. (a song with deep meaning to me as I’ve listened to my dad sing and play it on guitar many times as one of his faves) plus #2 ‘Holdin’ A Good Hand’ followed. When asked what his favorite song he’s ever recorded, he returned to the keyboard as the guitarists tuned down a half step and played his #9 ‘If There’s Any Justice’. It was at this point that the patriot in him kicked in, ‘I am the American Patriot’ he emphatically stated! A trio of songs ensued: a Statue of Liberty tribute featuring The Couriers song of the same name which included his own 1992’s ‘The Pledge Of Allegiance’, then Aaron Tippin’s ‘Where The Stars And Stripes And The Eagle Fly’ and you guessed it his Signature Song. Lee wrote and recorded ‘God Bless The U.S.A. back in 1984 and it only topped out at number seven back then. Reentering the charts during the Gulf War/Desert Storm and 911 the song continues to have new life breathed into it on an ongoing basis throughout elections, the Country’s good times, and her bad times. With a let me ‘take a breath, I used to do this easy’ the entire audience rose to their feet and sang along every word in honor of the greatest country on the face of the earth that we’re blessed to live in —America! Noticeably missing from the set were #1 Somebody’s Gonna Love You, #1 Mornin’ Ride, #3 Fools Gold, and #5 Touch And Go Crazy. Great news for fans is Greenwood led us to believe that it’s not the end of his recording career by any means and that he’s got a couple albums still left in him! Prior to leaving the stage Lee made his way across the front of the stage shaking hands —of which mine was one of them, a true highlight for me, as well as was a photo op in front of his tour bus. It has been an American dream come true for the California native and former blackjack dealer transformed into a 41 year career country music icon. God bless the U.S.A.!” Review and photo by DAve (Concert #768)

Such an Awesome concert in Cedar City, Utah. We were so happy that he came our direction. Great performance by the opening band. Lee Greenwood was an absolute gem. His voice is so strong and he is in such great shape. It was nice to hear about his family, that makes it a little more personable. Thanks again for making a memory that we will remember for a long time.
