About Triggers

Joe Kasler – Bass / Vocals

Rich Kawood – Drums / Vocals

Adam Rousseau – Guitar / Vocals

Brett Zoric – Keyboards / Vocals

Triggers began in the Spring of 2005 when keyboardist Brett Zoric and bassist Joe Salmond were given their walking papers by their current band, Pittsburgh based Monarch (Northern Records). Not wanting to waste any time, the two quickly set about making demos for a new project and looking for new band mates. Fellow local rock band The You ( Pure Tone Music) had also recently done a little housecleaning, ousting guitarist Adam Rousseau and drummer Rich “Woody” Kawood. It seemed only natural for these two pairs of outcasts to join together pursue a new endeavor.

The sound that they would create together would be an eclectic mix of new wave pop, hip-hop infused dance, and straight ahead rock n roll. The wide range of influences among the groups members gives their songs a sense of breadth not commonly found among other bands, while retaining enough consistent elements to give the band a definite unique sound. Triggers have been compared to Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Devo, The Cars, Spoon, and Supergrass among others.

Shortly after the formation of the band, Salmond left to pursue a career in the US military. He was replaced by the group’s mutual friend Joe Kasler, of local math rock heroes Evergreen Movement. Kasler’s strong technical playing ability and approach only strengthened the foundation of the band and added a new perspective to Trigger’s pop focus.

On the heels of their 2007 self-released EP Elude the Suits, Triggers entered Mr. Small’s Studio in the historic north side of Pittsburgh with renowned LA producer/engineer John Hiler ( Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins, Danzig, The Frogs ) to record their proper debut. Additional work was completed at the Machine Age Studio across town. The sessions yielded twelve high-energy tracks, which they plan to release as an LP in the spring of 2008. The LP will be preceded by a leadoff single/EP.

Triggers continue to write and play out, both locally and regionally. They have already managed to make an impact on the Pittsburgh music scene, gain significant radio play and attract attention from local press and media personalities. Their upcoming debut LP marks the next step in Triggers’ career and promises to launch them to even greater heights.
