About Adina Nyree

Adina Nyree is Poetry... living in Soul... growin' up Funk... mellowing in Blues. An album and artist conscious of the world around and inside her. Planted in nutrient rich soil of understanding, love and hope, Certified Organic seeks to grow on the listener, intertwining with mind, body and soul.

Adina Nyree uses her work to give voice to the voiceless, as well as social commentary on global issues. Her works include, but are not limited to, topics such as American teenage pregnancy and the conflict diamond trade in Africa. She is the author of a self-published chapbook, “Read My Lips: The Poetical Ramblings of an Insanely Aware Girl”.

She is the former creative writer and performing artist in William B. Johnson's ( Lil Billy Ent.) theatrical production, Drumadics(Drum-Addicts). Member of the Boston-Lizard Lounge 2004 and 2005 National Slam Teams. She has been featured at such venues as Simmons College Black Women's Symposium 2005 and Women's Month Poetry Jam 2006, United Nation's Church Center-Children's Rights Declaration Forum 2006, Brockton Public Library Poetry Series, as well as elementary schools, urban youth programs and churches around the nation. She is also featured on the 2006 season of P.L.A.C.E.S on Boston Educational Access and in the Yale Peabody Museum's Poems on the Road to Justice DVD (2006). Her style has been likened to that of M'shell Ndegeocello, Jill Scott, and Floetry.
