About Violin vs. Vinyl

KYTAMI is a violinistextremist. Perhaps Canada’s most diverse and engaging fiddle player, she is an unbelievably energetic performer. Kytami can bound between classical and fiddle styles, match them to heavy bass and electronic dance beats and then effortlessly cross genres to combine her skills and sound with the pounding of skins in punk and metal. With her abilities, style and devilish smile, she has won over audience after audience, appearing at most major festivals across Canada and in the Western U.S. as well as performing overseas in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Berlin and Dubai. Kytami has appeared on albums released by The Swollen Members and The Rebel Spell, collaborated with bands such as Third Eye Tribe, Goatsblood and legendary dub producer The Mad Professor and has also co-written two albums and toured extensively with the multi-cultural, award winning band Delhi 2 Dublin. First touching a turntable back in ’95, THE PHONOGRAFF isn’t new to the DJ game by any means. He has been building and crafting his skills for over 15 years, rocking shows in night clubs back in the day before he was even legal. The PhonoGraff is not only a DJ and a producer, he is also a highly skilled turntablist that manipulates the decks in a tasteful – yet murderous – way. Some people even say he’s possessed! Residing in Vancouver, Canada for the past 10 years, The PhonoGraff has released one completely original, critically acclaimed album called “From The Bottom Up”, a hip hop mixtape called “Train of Thought”, one Dubstep mix CD called “Sound Proof”, as well as opened for an impressive list of artists, including Blackalicious, Lady Sovereign, Alkaholiks, Jurassic 5, Digable Planets, Zion I, Living Legends, 50 Cent, Pigeon John, Maestro Fresh Wes, Sixtoo and Swollen Members. MISTA CHATMAN Inspired by the late 80's & early 90's reggae toasters of JA & NYC, the versatile raggamuffin vocal stylee of MISTA CHATMAN continues to boom loud & clear to the global music community worldwide. Formerly known as DJ Collage, his vocal performances have been featured on releases by DJ/Rupture, MachineDrum, Filastine, Poirier, Meat Beat Manifesto, Delhi2Dublin & many more. He has also performed alongside many top names in the reggae world such as Nicodemus, Yellowman, Collie Buddz, Sly & Robbie, Mad Professor, Easy Star All-Stars and many more. With his vocal collaborations & performances, he has had the ability to fuse his dancehall vocal chat with various forms of music like Dubstep, HipHop, Bhangra, Electronica, Dub & straight up Reggae dancehall. In fact, late last year he released the “Pon Di Version” EP which featured him chatting over straight Jamaican dancehall riddims which reconnected him with his roots in the reggae community. These days Mista Chatman can be found performing regularly at west coast spots like Ting reggae party in VanCity/BC, Non Stop Bhangra & Dub Mission in SF and his own Seattle based- JAM JAM Monday nite reggae party. And over the past couple years his vibes have been reaching over to the east coast by way of performances with NYC based artists such as Subatomic Sound System, Dr. Israel, Super Hi-Fi & others. Together, this unassailable duo is getting ready to bring their crazy ninja skills and infectious energy to you with a fresh new sound they’re calling “Violin vs.Vinyl.”
