Elekwent Folk

Elekwent Folk is a hip-hop group from Vancouver, Canada consisting of emcees/producers AstroLogical, A-Ro, and Slippery Elm. Their free-spirited nature, eclectic sound, and insightful themes are well received and appreciated by hip-hop heads uninspired by the commercially oriented hip-hop saturating the mainstream. They have released several albums including 'The Genesis (Indp. 2008), Folk Fest (Nasty Habits Ent. 2010) and Milky Ways & Other Slippery Galactic Phenomena (Jellyfish Recordings 2010), Concrete Honey (Jellyfish Recordings 2011) and their latest, Northern Lights (Indp. 2012). They have appeared at venues across the Pacific Northwest performing alongside the likes of Moka Only, Shabazz Palaces, Digital Underground, J-Live, Elzhi (Slum Village), Panther & The Supafly, Sub Antix and many others. Fuelled by their love of life, music, and language, Elekwent Folk are determined to continue making positive music—music made BY the Folk, FOR the folk.
