Matria

Os Matria nascem na Moita a 22 de Abril de 2000 pela mão do Rudy Martins (guitarra e voz), e de David Casenave (guitarra), membros fundadores da banda e responsáveis máximos pela criação de uma identidade própria. Mais tarde juntam-se ao projeto Nuno Alves (baixo), e André Fernandes (bateria). Entre as influências da banda constam nomes como Anathema, Placebo, Muse e Metallica, mas a maior é, sem margem para dúvidas, Pink Floyd. Pelos nomes é fácil perceber o ecletismo dessas influências, que servem apenas como base, sendo que em todos os momentos a banda tentou encontrar a sua própria identidade e marcar pela diferença. A 1ª demo é lançada em 2001 e intitula-se “A Moonlight Memory”. Em 2002 a banda estreia-se ao vivo no Festival “Vibrações Jovens” e faz a 1ª parte do concerto dos UHF na concentração motard do Moto Clube da Moita. 2003, é o ano do lançamento da 2ª demo “Escape From Reality”. No final de 2003 a banda entra em hiato e volta a reunir-se em 2006 para mais concertos. O ano seguinte é um ano de “trabalho de estúdio”, restruturando a forma de apresentação ao vivo, e a elaboração do 1º álbum de originais, álbum homónimo lançado em Abril de 2008, que teve uma excelente aceitação por parte do público. Após um interregno, volta a tocar ao vivo apenas em 2012, entrando também em estúdio para o 2º álbum de originais, “Defying My World”. Desse álbum são extraídos 2 singles: “Sea of Pain” e “Grace & Infinity”. O lançamento do álbum aconteceu no dia 29 de março de 2014, ao vivo e em direto na rádio SuperFM, no programa “Força Total à Música Nacional”. Em maio do mesmo ano vencem o 1º concurso de Bandas do Barreiro e alcançam com o single “Sea Of Pain” o n.º 1 do “Top 25” da Rádio Utopia. Em julho chegam ao primeiro lugar do Top da ReverbNation, no ranking nacional de rock. ______________________________________________________ Matria were created in Moita, in April 22nd, 2000, by Rudy Martins (guitar and vocals), and David Casenave (guitar), founding members, and creators of the band’s identity. Later on, the band teamed up with Nuno Alves (bass guitar) and André Fernandes (drums). Throughout the bands’ influences, we can find names such as Anathema, Placebo, Muse, Metallica, but the biggest one, no doubts about it, is Pink Floyd. These names reveal the influences eclecticism, still this is only a foundation as the band always strived to find their own identity, and take a stand. The first demo, “A Moonlight Memory” is release in 2001. In 2002 the band debuts in the “Vibrações Jovens” fest, and stars as an opening act for headliners “UHF” in Moto Clube da Moita’s bike rally. In 2003, “Escape From Reality”, the second demo is released, and the band reaches an hiatus, only returning in 2006 for more shows. The following year is spent in the studio, reforming their live appearance, and composing the first LP, self-titled, which was launched in April 2008, leading to a great public acceptance. After a break, the band returns to the stages in 2012, while composing their second LP, named “Defying My World”. They released two singles, “Sea Of Pain” and “Grace & Infinity”. The release was made live on air at SuperFM radio station, in the “Força Total à Musica Nacional” show in March 29th, 2014. Later on in May, they win Barreiro’s first band competition and “Sea Of Pain” reaches number 1 in Rádio Utopia’s “Top 25”.
