About The Trip
"Maiocchi & The Trip" was originally a psychedelic rock band formed in London, UK in 1966 by Riki Maiocchi (voice), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), william gray (voice and guitar), Arvid Andersen (voice and bass) and Ian Broad (drums).
With tis formation the band produced no records.
Soon after (1967) the two founders, Maiocchi and Blackmore, and the drummer Broad left the band. They reformed the same year (1967) as "The Trip" with two members, Joe Vescovi (keyboard) and Pino Sinnone (drums), and began to move to more progressive sounds.
The band produced two records for the RCA: the homonym "The Trip" (aka "Musica impressionistica") in 1970 and concept album "Caronte" in 1971.
In 1972 Sinnone was replaced as drummer by Furio Chirico and, just an year after, Gray left the band.
With the new formation, a trio of bass, drums and keyboard (like the Emerson, Lake & Palmer), the band produced another two records: "Atlantide" in 1972 for the RCA and "Time of Change" in 1973 for the Trident.
In 1973, Chirico left the band; they try to replace him with the drummer Nunzio Favia but it don't works... the band split up for good.
