About Space
There are different bands under the same name:
1)Space was a French group playing electronic and synthpop music, founded by Didier Marouani (known also under nickname Ecama). Song "Magic Fly" from their first album was a hit in the 70's. Space released three studio albums (Magic Fly, Deliverance, Just Blue), which became very influential in their subgenre. Creative differences led Marouani to leave the band around 1980, however the rest of Space released "Deeper Zone" LP in 1981. After it disbanded in 80's, Didier Marouani continued his career as solo artist before he got the brand name "Space" in the court around 1990, re-releasing classic albums and giving a concert tour. The latest Space album was released in 2002.
2)Space were a britpop band from Liverpool, who released a few prominent records (including top 20 hit single "Female of the Species" and the songs "Ballad of Tom Jones" and "Avenging Angels") and then fell back into obscurity, eventually splitting up. They are notable for lead singer Tommy Scott singing in a very Liverpudlian accent - see "Neighbourhood" or "Me and You vs The World". The band also experimented with dance versions of their tracks - notably "Growler", the last track from their debut album.
Despite accusations of being a comedy or novelty act Space had more depth than may be immediately apparent - "Female Of The Species" was written as a tribute to Tommy Scott's late father, who loved Frank Sinatra. Scott wanted to write a song his father would have enjoyed.
3) Jimmy Cauty (of The Orb and The KLF) released his song/album Space under the artist name Space.
4) Space is the moniker of the Australian-born guitarist for Memento, The Hiwatts, and Nine Times Bodyweight. Space's solo project was released in September of 2006 - you can hear his work at his official site as well as his personal mySpace page.
