The Lowlands

Ella - Originally hailing from Tasmania, Ella began her musical journey in Canberra as a solo artist. In this capacity she has supported the likes of Bertie Blackman, Georgi Kay and Jess Kent. She has been a member of folk/punk band Azim Zain and his Lovely Bones since early 2015, playing guitar and backing vocals. Azim Zain and his Lovely Bones released their debut EP in July 2016, accompanied by a joint East Coast tour with fellow Canberrans, Helena Pop. Ella has also contributed backing vocals to Helena Pop’s debut pair of singles, Naked and Break Off A Piece. Joel learned cello for 12 years before choosing to play blues and jazz, and now plays with a manically restrained vigor that could convince you that he is still running from the conductor of his primary school choir. He also plays cello in folk/blues duo Alex and Joel, and plays and records regularly for other local projects, inducing recording string parts for singer-songwriter Vendulka, and folk five-piece Songmen. Sammy was the last member to join at the start of 2016. He has played in numerous bands in Canberra since 2010. Most notably Brother Be. He enjoys playing a totally different style in The Lowlands that he hasn't played before. The Lowlands are Ella, Joel, Sammy and Tim. Expect guitar, cello and vocal harmonies.
