About Omar Basaad

Omar Basaad captures the quintessence of electronic music and continues to discover the progressive state of house music through his innate ability to produce memorable beats. He chooses to steer his dreams by house music and lead the infinitude course. One of the youngest EDM (electronic dance music) producers in the Middle East, he loves being in the studio and deems music as the theme of life. Unique in his origin, he is a young music prodigy and a prevalent influential Saudi media figure. Basaad is the first Arab to release the world's first arabic dubstep track, with the resurrection of his single ''Nehyatina Eh''. He involved himself in the production side of music, at the young age of 17. Born on 21st of December, to a Turkish mother and a Saudi father, Basaad influences music with his mix heritage with a stroke of bold imagination. Basaad’s music journey started off with him buying a beat-box and DJ equipment. “It was a journey of self-realization. It was a process of algorithms, notes and the fundamentals of recording techniques that helped me produce my own music.” Even though he couldn't pursue playing the guitar, he is a keyboard player and is always looking for acoustics. “I combine modern mix beats with a Khaleeji feel with drums, violin, tabla and other Eastern beats.” Basaad always wanted more. He envisioned himself to be more than just a onetime wonder, so he delved deeper into audio engineering. He pursued music in the United Kingdom and played his music in Turkey and the Middle East region. Since then, he landed numerous sessions at gigs across Turkey and the Middle East. This led to his big break, and he was asked to produce a track for famous Turkish pop star Tarkan. His first release with Tarkan in 2008 launched his remix alongside international phenomenons like Tiesto and others. Basaad's single “Nehayetnah Eh” took over Middle Eastern radio waves and media sphere in the Middle East during 2010. Moonbeam, one of the leading DJ's in the world remixed Basaad's "Sweet Pain" in 2011. In his quest to create something new, he believes in “taking your own experiences and making something out of them.” With his single, “La Chants,” released on Beatport and iTunes worldwide in 2012, he did just that. His single 'Hojan' has been supported by the likes of Qulinez (Size Records) and played out throughout podcasts across the world. Being mentored by Laidback Luke, Basaad has big plans for 2014. His latest single '2 Love' with Alicia Madison is already termed to be Middle East's hottest summer record in 2014 gaining five million views worldwide upon on its release. The world certainly stopped and allowed this transition. “No one back in the day could have imagined a Saudi choosing, let alone commanding respect in the electronic music spectrum," he said. What he feels strongly about is the new generation and how the generic consciousness about house music has evolved in the past few years. “That is the difference in today's generation. They can think and have what it takes to realize their dreams. Now, the young generation decides what they want to do. They are the present and the future.” Basaad currently lives in Dubai and hosts the world's top DJs and artists such as Nervo, Nadia Ali, Bob Sinclar, Ian Carey and Roger Sanchez on his radio and podcast episodes. He is a proud owner of his digital record label, Loud Recordings. The leading media outlets of the Middle East (Arab News and Saudi Gazette) have cautioned the world to watch out for the star who aspires to be perennial; deeming him to be the artist of linear perfection, the "Tiesto" and the "Insatiable Dreamer" of the Middle East. Basaad has regularly headlined major dance music festivals including Creamfields and Sandance playing alongside the top DJs in the world.
