Carlene Mitchell headlines on cruise ships, casinos, concert venues, and theaters throughout and enjoys recreating memorable experiences with her audiences, as she honors the music and lives of these Legendary Artists.

This show can be performed with accompaniment show tracks, or with the Class Act Tribute Band.

BIOGRAPHY

Carlene Mitchell is a Nationally-Acclaimed Jazz and R&B Artist, International Christian Recording Artist, Songwriter & Producer, and an Award-Winning Celebrity Tribute Artist, who has captivated audiences nationally and internationally for over 37 years with her grace and soulful vocal styling in Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, and other various musical genres.

As a multiple Award-Winning Tribute Artist in the Tribute Industry for over 20 years, Carlene is widely recognized for her performance, musical direction, and dance choreography in tribute shows she has produced and performed nationwide and overseas at theaters, casinos, cruise ships, concert venues, arenas, and more. Whether performing to customized show tracks, with her dance troupe “Feel The Groove Dancers”, and/or with her live tribute band “Class Act Tribute Band”, Ms. Mitchell’s tribute shows genuinely capture the essence of each Celebrity as if you were watching each of them, live in concert.

Carlene has received numerous awards at The Reel Awards and The Artist Choice Awards in Las Vegas for her production and performance of “Dreamgirls Tribute”, as well as awards and nominations for her tributes to some of the 8 celebrities she impersonates: Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Natalie Cole, Mary J Blige, Tina Turner, Donna Summer and Celia Cruz. Ms. Mitchell has been seen on a variety of television shows, including The Next Best Thing on ABC Television, The Daily Buzz, and FUSE TV and has been featured in several books and magazines including Copy Cats 2, Fame US, Vegas Rocks Magazine, and Madison Magazine in Australia. To add to her creative contributions in music and dance in the Tribute, as well as in the Entertainment Industries, as an actress, Carlene has toured and performed in various musicals, film, and commercials. With a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media Studies/Television Production from Hunter College in New York City, Carlene is also creatively active in sound, music production photography, videography, and marketing.

In addition to being an accomplished Tribute Artist, Carlene Mitchell continues to headline in venues nationwide as a Jazz and R&B Vocalist with her band, as well as in solo and duo acts singing primarily covers. Perhaps it was her training in classical music in New York, paired with her influences of Jazz and R&B greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Gladys Knight, and Whitney Houston, that broadened Carlene’s vision to take her diverse vocal talents to perform with various Jazz bands and Swing Orchestras in renowned locations such as The Helmsley Palace, Sweetwater’s, and The Rainbow Room in New York City, as well as headlining at Heidi's Jazz Club, Peter Scott’s, The Jazz Company at Pleasure Island, and The Westin Grand Bohemian in Orlando, FL. Ms. Mitchell has performed in Blues and Motown shows in venues such as The Motown Café and The House of Blues, and has opened for several recording artists such as Ray, Goodman, and Brown; Cuba Gooding, Sr.; and The Delphonics. Ms. Mitchell has performed on stage with Michael Bolton, Jessica Simpson, as well as with Gospel Recording Artists, Tye Tribbett, Kim Burell, Judith McAllister, Jekalyn Carr, and J.J. Hairston, and others.

In 1991, Carlene made her recording debut with celebrated French Producer Adrien Dupuy on an album distributed in Paris and abroad. Although Carlene has recorded for other Artists on their album distribution, and for many years has also enjoyed writing her own original music, it was recently that God opened the path for Carlene becoming an International Christian Recording Artist, with a song he instructed her to write in 2020 during the pandemic. Released on 10-10-2020, “To The Broken-Hearted” is a global song written to encourage a world experiencing significant loss. The song receives radio airplay in over 100 countries worldwide, and can be heard on all major streaming platforms, as well as in live concerts and events which Ms. Mitchell performs.

Carlene attributes her success in every area of her life to her Heavenly Father, and is grateful for His love, grace, and guidance, as well as every opportunity in her career and in worship to be His vessel that shines His light and brings Glory to His name. She loves sharing her testimony of how a man who could barely walk, was healed while he was on stage with her, as she performed as Diana Ross. No matter where or what she is performing, Carlene’s ultimate desire and motto is for people in her audience to be moved, uplifted, and to go home better than when they came. This man literally went home with all of the above, and some!!!
