About Gürkan Karacan
The creative spark of Gürkan Karacan was ignited at the age of six when he received his first semi-real toy instrument: a stringless mandolin from the flea market Kadiköy (Istanbul).
This gift inspired him to be creative.
After he played a real "bağlama (SAZ)" for the first time, it didn´t take long until Gürkan discover his true passion - playing and performing.
With a musical journey spanning over 25 years, he has crafted a rich and diverse legacy that continues to evolve. Today, Gürkan stands as a vibrant and captivating performer, known for his ability to mesmerize audiences with both his presence and his sound.
Rooted in a foundation of manifold rhythms, his music blossoms into a colorful spectrum of melodies. His repertoire is a testament to his versatility - featuring oriental-inspired Swiss folk songs, refreshing flamenco sequences, traditional Anatolian reinterpretations, psychedelic grooves, and Anatolian rock elements. These diverse influences come together to form a unique musical identity that bridges cultures and genres, enriched further by his distinctive modern original compositions.
Gürkans voice, however, is what truly sets him apart - crystal-clear and emotionally resonant, or, as one would say in Turkish "kadife gibi” - like velvet.
