About Nandez

“N7NDEZ is less of a person and more of a state of being—something sort of intangible for me. The ideas come from a different place, a darker place.” When asked what his mission was, N7NDEZ paused thoughtfully, and answered “I just want to share music with the world, music I vibe with.” In 2011, after receiving his music production degree, N7NDEZ got his start working with his own crew 7TRE; a name derived from the infamous 73rd street that every Richfield kid would take to and from school daily. The group put out several mix-tapes—engineered exclusively by N7NDEZ— and served as the foundation for his music career. Most of the learning and teeth-sharpening that happened for him as a performer stemmed from his creations with 7TRE, and also served as building blocks for his development as an individual hip hop artist. After the group dissolved, N7NDEZ’s accomplishments and learning from trials with the collective now serve as roots for the scraggily, rough edged, brash character you see on stages today. While 7TRE is no longer relevant, N7NDEZ adopted the 7 into his stage name to pay homage. To date, N7NDEZ has produced over 100 songs, been featured with artists such as Mod Sun, J.R. Writer, and Bukkweat Bill. In 2013 he opened for Machine Gun Kelly and Mod Sun and was awarded 2013 Best Group of the Year at the Twin Cities Urban Music Awards. “Anyone with talent” was N7NDEZ’s first response on being asked who his musical influences were. “You know, non-traditional music, unconventional arrangements, that sort of thing.” N7NDEZ admitted under pressure that David Bowie was a huge one- “probably the biggest.” Amongst other influences are Chance the Rapper, Motorhead, T.Rex, Kendrick Lamar, Iggy Pop and the group Odd Future, to name a few. N7NDEZ is currently working on a new album, producing all of his own beats. This will be his first official full length album, and it’s set to come out sometime in the fall/winter of 2014.
