The Departures

The Departures are a four piece Alternative Rock band originally from Vancouver, Washington. They released their first album, Traffic Patterns in 2019 while graduating high school and set out on their first tour shortly afterward. The pandemic uprooted their plans for a spring tour in 2020, a period they instead devoted to writing new music. These lockdown writing sessions led to the creation of their second album, Yes No Maybe released in March of 2022. In April of 2024, The Departures recorded their latest album Hourglass at Jackpot Studios with engineer Zach Bloomstein. Released in October of 2024, Hourglass captures The Departures at their best, with soaring vocal runs from lead singer January Massey and memorable drumming from Joe-Henry McQuary. With new members Kira Gelbaugh on bass and Shane Isom on lead guitar, The Departures are excited to be writing and performing more new music in Los Angeles.
