That Clare

Based in Teesside, That Clare is an eclectic transgender singer-songwriter whose music is a powerful mix of cool acoustic & synthwave punk vibes with poignant lyrics.

She’s a songwriter,performer and producer in her own right and often creates & records much of her work at home before completing in the studio. Strongly influenced by artists like Laura Jane Grace, Blondie, Patti Smith, and Depeche Mode, That Clare channels her experiences and emotions into dark poetic songs that address politics, protest, and personal struggles. Her music serves as a vehicle for positive action, giving a voice to trans/queer rights, democracy, equality, and social justice.

Earlier in 2025 she was selected by a panel of industry experts to take part in Tees Music Alliance’s PRS Foundation-funded music residency, The Green House, where she received a week of mentoring, free recording and rehearsal space, culminating in a live show at The Georgian Theatre, Stockton. She has also recently announced that she will be performing at the Noisy Daughters’ stage at Last Train Home Festival on Saturday 6th September.
