Drud

Drud is a (post-) black metal band from the Black Forest and was founded in April 2021. Three of the founding members (Teufeskald, Egregor and Nihilis) came from the symphonic black metal band “Totengeflüster”, which had disbanded the previous year, and were joined by Vrana, who was already known from previous music projects.

The music of the first two years can be described as black metal with influences from death metal and post-rock. In 2023, the band played their debut concert at Backstage Munich.
The band's musical bandwidth opened up beginning 2024 after new members joined the band.
Elements of Heavy and Thrash Metal, for example, also found their way into the band's new songs.
Drud's debut album "Omega" was released in December 2024, followed by album release shows in 2025.

Thematically, Drud is about melancholy, depression, nihilism but also social and religious criticism.

The Drud (also Drude) is a nocturnal spirit widespread in Southern Germany and Austria. It is believed that the Drud sits on the chest of the sleeoing one and causes nightmares, anxiety and shortness of breath. These so called "pressure spirits" are mostly women who are condemned to search for a victim every night.
In the Middle Ages, the "Drudenfuss" (literally "drud's foot") is the pentagram symbol which was used to ward off a Drud.
