About De Toestand
De Toestand creates Dutch-language electronic pop with poetic lyrics, theatrical flair, and hypnotic grooves. Fronted by singer and writer Jeninke de Jong, the band blends downtempo, dubreggae, artpop and kleinkunst into genre-defying live shows filled with stories of love, memory, and transformation. Their music features rich soundscapes, crisp vocal harmonies, and pulsing beats rooted in jazz and electronica.
As part of the regular songwriting pool for the renowned NPO 5 radio show Andermans Veren, many of their singles—including “De Kus”, “Mist & Sneeuw” and “Narcissen”—have premiered on national Dutch radio before hitting streaming platforms.
Performing across the Netherlands in theaters, festivals and intimate venues, De Toestand brings emotionally layered songs to life with style, wit, and rhythmic precision.
As part of the regular songwriting pool for the renowned NPO 5 radio show Andermans Veren, many of their singles—including “De Kus”, “Mist & Sneeuw” and “Narcissen”—have premiered on national Dutch radio before hitting streaming platforms.
