About Future Fictions
Chris Eakins is the driving force behind Future Fictions, a rising Toronto act blending haunting piano, textured guitars, and narrative-driven songwriting.
Chris began his music career in 1998 as a drummer and keyboardist, witnessing Toronto’s evolving music scene. In 2006, after earning a degree in songwriting and ethnomusicology, a critical illness forced him to step away from touring. Shifting gears, he dedicated himself to music education, spending years teaching while healing from a Crohn’s diagnosis. Family life brought new purpose, and by 2015, he returned to songwriting with renewed passion.
From his home studio, The Little Room, Chris began releasing music as Future Fictions, sharing deeply personal themes of health, love, and resilience. His 2022 album, Chronophobia, is available on Bandcamp, followed by a series of singles exploring love and songwriting as meditation.
After performing at The Baby G alongside songwriting heroes Hayden and Matt Murphy, Chris rediscovered his love for live performance. He has since assembled an all-star lineup: Jami Lefebvre (Black Spruce), Greg O’Toole (Mike Legere), Noel DeTosto (The Bad Apples), Myke Mazzei (The Bad Apples), and Larry Lefebor. Together, they are shaping Future Fictions into a must-watch act.
With dynamic arrangements, evocative storytelling, and a sound that heals as much as it captivates, Future Fictions is just getting started.
