Tilly Vickers Willis

Melbourne avant-folk musician Tilly Vickers Willis’ debut album Silver Halide Film is out now, along with a heartwarming video for focus track 'In My Body'. Pulling from elements of downtempo, triphop electronica, the new album is filled with moody organs, woozy guitars and ghosty falsettos.

Comprised of nine uniquely crafted songs spanning across genres of avant-folk, jazz, soul and ambient music, Silver Halide Film is about the depths of detachment and the sublimity of embodiment. There is the shiny, icy tang of trip-hop, shimmering pockets of art pop, and TVW’s’ smoky vocals which bind the whole record together. Produced by Dean Tuza (Acopia, Dirty Three, Eleanor Jawurlangali), the debut album includes a cover of TV On The Radio’s ‘Staring into the Sun’ as well as a track co-written with Morgan Wright of Acopia. The beauty of our surroundings is in the detail, and TVW’s songwriting inspires a sense of worldly curiosity in the listener that lingers long after the last notes of the album drift into the night air.
