About Electric Funeral
Forged in the heart of Melbourne, Electric Funeral delivers a relentless mix of thrash, groove, and speed metal, blending razor-sharp riffs with high-intensity energy. What started as a collaboration between Ethan Benson (guitar/vocals) and Alex Owens (bass) evolved into a full-throttle force when Tom Chappell (drums) joined the fold. With Lex moving to New Zealand, Ethan’s brother Angus took over bass duties, completing the current lineup.
Taking cues from Slayer, Death, Slipknot, System of a Down, and even The Pogues, Electric Funeral combines blistering speed, raw aggression, and technical precision with a thought-provoking edge. Their lyrics—often steeped in philosophy and literature—offer a sharp, politically charged undercurrent without being overtly on-the-nose.
Their debut EP, "Misanthropy for the Masses," drops on February 27, bringing a sonic assault designed to make you bang your head and question the world in equal measure. For Electric Funeral, heavy music isn’t just about the adrenaline—it’s about channeling that energy into something greater.
