LAU

LAU (Pronounced /lɑu:/) is Laura Fares, an Argentinean singer, songwriter, drummer, producer and prominent figure in the Synthwave and Retrowave scenes, currently based in Barcelona. Her music blends Retrowave and Synthpop with a strong 80s influence.

In a past musical life, she wrote 3 albums for NINA and she drummed for some big pop stars like Sam Sparro, Ricky Martin, Clean Bandit and Taio Cruz.

LAU's debut single Stunning has over 2.2M plays already, included in her debut album Believer. LAU’s second album Circumstance released in 2022, reached #7 in the UK on the Apple Music Electronic Album Charts.

LAU’s music has appeared on the Victoria’s Secret winter ad campaign and she has appeared in publications such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Marie Claire and many others.

LAU is also Creative Director at Aztec Records, a UK record label she co-funded in 2010.
In 2022 LAU was selected as a Keychange artist, a EU talent development programme that promotes gender minorities in music. She’s also been nominated for the Spanish Independent Music Awards in 2021 and 2022 (Best Artist and Best Album), and the BIME Equity Awards in 2022 (Best Song).

LAU's third studio album ‘Digital Dream’ is out now. She’s also written the theme music for the VICE UNDERCOVER game out in 2025.

LAU has performed in some of the major industry showcases in Europe (MaMa Festival Paris, YouBloom Ireland, Live at Heart Sweden, Future Music Forum Barcelona, Reeperbahn Hamburg)
