With the saxophone as his main instrument but an approach that extends far beyond the traditional, Arnfinn Langesæter creates music that is both immediately captivating and hypnotically repetitive.

Growing up in Hardanger, shaped by both folk tunes and his father’s record collection, Arnfinn developed a distinctive style early on— a blend of Nordic stillness and raw expressivity. Moving freely between a range of instruments, he crafts a unique sonic universe. After studying at the Grieg Academy, he has spent years as a central yet often understated figure in Oslo’s jazz scene. He has collaborated with projects ranging from the psychedelic ensemble The Harvey Steel Show to experimental vocal jazz with Karoline Wallace and Tore Ljøkelsøy Quartet.

In 2025, he will release Koloni, his first album as a bandleader—a collection of melodic compositions where strong themes meet hypnotic, repetitive grooves and expressive improvisations. The music is both accessible and exploratory, designed to draw the listener in, piece by piece.
