About Sugar World
Sugar World is an indie pop/rock band from Los Angeles, California, based on the decade-long songwriting partnership of Katryn and Ryan Stanley. Originating from the Tallahassee bedroom pop band Naps, Katryn and Ryan moved to San Diego and started their duo project Sugar World in 2019. They released a Christmas covers EP A Sugar Christmas in 2020, and their debut home-recorded album Lost & Found in 2022 before settling down in Los Angeles. They were soon joined by bassist Daniel Palacios and drummer Cameron Davis.
Their music evokes the innocent charm of 80s and 90s twee pop, while tapping into more modern elements from hyperpop, bubble grunge, and emo. Their catchy melodies paired with somber lyrical elements under distortion and noise create a fresh take on twee for the 2020s.
