About Balderdasch

London-based, Cork native Balderdasch is carving out a unique niche with her experimental alt-pop sound. Her debut EP Control the Ending landed on the 25th of September and is a captivating blend of electric guitar, off-kilter samples, and intricate lyricism. The release saw support from BBC Introducing London, and features on Rough Trade’s Counter Culture playlist, DIY's The Neu Playlist and Line of Best Fit’s New Music Discovery . The six track work was co-produced by saxophonist Pete Wareham of Melt Yourself Down. Like contemporaries such as Jockstrap and Sorry, Balderdasch's live performances defy easy comparison. Her immersive live sets often see her smacking hotel bells and singing three-part harmonies alongside her 'women in STEM’. With her inclusion as one of the 50 showcasing acts at Ireland Music Week 2024, Balderdasch is poised to make a significant impact. Her idiosyncratic set in Dublin in October was remarked by Nialler9 as having “truly cool oddball sounds and songs”.
