Lapgan

Lapgan is a Chicago-based beatmaker / producer inspired by existentialism, history, nature, and universality. His music spans influences from hip hop to classic Bollywood and Lollywood. He self-released his first beat tape Badmaash in 2019 which ties together his Indian roots and his ever expanding interest in beatmaking. In 2021, he released Duniya Kya Hai on electrocaÏne, a beat tape that unearthed rare and forgotten Indian & Pakistani music, revitalizing and recontextualizing the sounds of his ancestral home and musical predecessors. In 2023, he signed to Veena Sounds and released History, a tapestry of beats stitching together samples of Bollywood and Lollywood soundtracks, Tamil Film music, Marathi chants, flute-heavy Bengali religious music, and more. Most recently, he partnered with Heems on the critically acclaimed album LAFANDAR. You can catch him traveling and collecting vinyl in South Asia as he dreams up his next beat tape.
