About Sydney Jones
Sydney Jones is an independent singer-songwriter based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
Raised in a small town in rural Ontario, Sydney is passionate about honouring Canadian identity in her music. Her songwriting weaves together indie and pop genres with a core of alternative country, and folk roots. Sydney takes inspiration from female powerhouse artists Brandi Carlile, Feist, Serena Ryder, Julia Jacklin, Madison Cunningham, and many more. Sydney is known for her emotional songwriting and lyricism, expressed through layered guitar and warm vocal melodies. Her 2023/2024 debut singles Wait to Be Found, Dark Water - Live, and Hannah, are the first of many solo projects to come. In her first year, Sydney secured opening slots for Canadian artists Ariel Posen, Glenn Milchem (Blue Rodeo), and shared the stage with Danny Michel, Tim Baker, Bahamas, and others.
Since 2019, Sydney has led indie-folk band Jones + The Jackpines, whose 2021 EP Spectrum features 5 of Sydney's original songs. Spectrum was self-produced by Sydney and bandmates during the pandemic lockdowns showcasing Sydney's raw songwriting and vocal talents.
