Mezar

Through desert blues, moving narratives, and future mirages, Mezar weaves a sound where the earth’s pulse meets dreamy textures. This alchemy is carried by a universal spirituality, linking memory, organic sounds, and shifting landscapes.
After a debut album and receiving the Prix Révélations Radio-Canada in Montreal in 2019 under the name Nomad ben Stones, Sohan was released in May 2024 with support from the Canada Council for the Arts. It invites a dreamlike encounter between a Tuareg and an astronaut in search of a forgotten star — a suspended tale, between earthly dust and cosmic drift.
A fantasy of an alliance between Ali Farka Touré and Mort Garson, Mezar’s sonic universe unfolds as a mutable fabric, where guitar converses with analog keyboards, and polyrhythms with weightlessness.
On stage, this reverie becomes more embodied. Textures thicken, breath becomes pulse. The music opens to trance, without ever losing its original poetry.
Presented at the MaMA Convention in Paris and finalist for the Prix des Musiques d’Ici, Mezar continues its journey — between nomadic storytelling, cinematic sound, and memory in motion.
