About Misty Lanes
Misty Lanes is the name given to the solo recording project of Sydney-based Multi-Instrumentalist, Songwriter, engineer and Producer Steven W Schouten.
Steven emerged as Misty Lanes in late 2017 with an album worth of lo-fi recordings entirely of his own material, performing and recording all the parts himself.
Drawing influence from the sixties summer of love, the Misty Lanes sound evokes the essence and rawness of the decade both sonically and aesthetically, defined by a wall of reverberating guitars, delicate vocals and dreamy organ melodies.
Now in 2024 Steven returns with his second full-length LP ‘Colourless Green Ideas’. An eclectic collection of songs that explore a plethora of sounds and sub-genres from psychedelic rock, baroque pop, outsider folk, krautrock, funk-infused garage-rock and much more. Misty Lanes awakens our nostalgia like a lost artefact from the past with a refreshing new twist.
