About dom glynn & his sunday best
Dom Glynn is a 27-year-old singer-songwriter and fingerpicker extraordinaire from Birmingham, UK, who moved to London in 2016. Through persistent gigging as a solo act, he has developed a reputation as an impressive live performer. He combines a style of songwriting influenced by Bob Dylan and Hank Williams Sr., with a guitar style inspired by Mississippi John Hurt and Doc Watson.
Since moving to London, Dom has worked with the independent record label, Spiritual Records, to release an E.P. (Waster’s Blues, 2019), several singles (Never Free at All, 2019; Ain’t No Cowboys, Paper Crown & Wound Within, 2020; Every Spare Penny; 2023) and an album (The Devil Knows, 2023).
2023 was Glynn’s biggest year yet, with the album release; supports for UK Blues legends, Jack Broadbent at The Jazz Café and Ian Siegal at Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues Bar; and the formation of Dom Glynn and His Sunday Best.
The band has been described as ‘British Honky-Tonk’ (At The Barrier, 2024). Dom is joined by the thrilling fiddle virtuoso Dr. Duncan Menzies (Copper Viper), the infectiously joyful drumming of Carmen Ruiz Vicente and the airtight bass-playing and delightful harmonies of Jack Trouble. Together they make a sound that excites and inspires; music that makes the people drink and dance. They can regularly be found live at their monthly residencies in The Dukes of Highgate, Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues Bar, Sir Richard Steele and Spiritual Bar.
So far in 2024, they have released the two singles, ‘Time Would Slow Down’ and ‘Singing to Survive’, and have performed at Ramblin’ Roots, Black Deer and Maverick Festivals.
