Ren

Ren is a Welsh singer, songwriter, rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He started out busking on the streets of Bristol and Brighton.

As a teenager he was signed and ready to release his debut album when a mystery illness hit and his health collapsed. What followed was years of hospital rooms, isolation and uncertainty, eventually leading to a diagnosis of Lyme Disease, which has been an on going battle for over a decade. Stuck in his bedroom, he turned fully to writing and producing, and in his words, it “saved his life”.

That experience runs through his music. Ren writes openly about illness, mental health, isolation and the darker corners of the mind, tying it to sharp lyricism and a sound that moves between alternative rock, hip hop and spoken word. His nine minute piece “Hi Ren” introduced many listeners to that world, and his independent album “Sick Boi” went on to reach number one on the UK Official Albums Chart in 2023.

Alongside the music, Ren directs and builds and directs many of his own visuals with a small circle of friends. A steadily growing, loyal fanbase has allowed him to keep doing it on his own terms, one song and one story at a time.
