About The Black Room band
The Black Room is a band formed in 2014, and two years later, they released
their debut album, In This Town Lies A City; which immediately caught the
attention of both the audience and critics. Affirmative reviews across the board
confirmed the bands quality and gave them momentum for new creations.
Performances throughout Croatia, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, and Slovenia, as
well as playing at major regional festivals (INmusic, Indirekt), left a significant
mark on the bands reputation. They also performed at Waves Vienna and
Budapest (BUSH) festivals, one of the largest music conference festivals in
Europe, and served as the opening act for the American band Wovenhand.
In 2018, they released the EP After Dark; and the single Black and Blue;
Following these, in April 2022, the band from Rijeka released their second
album titled Motel Monaco, once again justifying their reputation as one of
the most promising domestic rock bands. A regional tour followed, along with a
nomination for the Rock and Off; performer of the year. Exceptional audio
production, thoughtful visual aesthetics, and flawless execution have propelled
them far beyond the borders of Croatia. The Black Room has become part of
the Europavox, and We Move Music organizations, promoting European
musical diversity.
In 2023, the band released a new single, Future Memories; which also serves
as the announcement for their upcoming album of the same name. The single
won the Ivica Vrkić award for Single of the Year at the 45th Ri-Rock Festival.
Their sound, rooted in garage rock and new wave, with a strong nod to British
rock from the early 90's, especially in the captivating vocals of The Black Rooms lead
singer, Jakov Katalinić, who interprets their sonic tales with evocative vocals.
The guitar sound of Leo Ventin, whether creating atmosphere or delivering fast
and powerful riffs, is distinctive, while the rhythmic foundation laid by Ivan
Ritosa on drums completes the energy of the entire band.
