About Ontaard
Ontaard is rapidly becoming a familiar face in the alternative scene. Ontaard draws inspiration from whatever style of art they are into at the moment and mashing it together in heart wrenching songs that are bombarding the listener. It didn’t take long before Ontaard caught the eye of both critics and crowd, not only with their painfully honest lyrics that touch on themes of abuse and the trauma it causes, but also with their performance, which is known for touching even the toughest of hearts. Reaching from personal history of abuse from a significant other going through psychoses, the viewer simply can’thelp but feel the desperation that the band wears on their sleeve.
Their honest and clear approach to music has also helped them acquire a spot in the activist scene. Performing at festivals at the likes of That’s What She* Said (a festival advocating for worldwide genderequality at the Melkweg) and Sophie Straat’s Protestfest (a festival in Paradiso curated by Sophie Straat to raise funds for Palestine).
Ontaard is originally from Utrecht, the Netherlands. They have played at Roadburn in both 2024 and 2025 and have performed with acts like Agriculture, Dool and Terzij De Horde. With their latest release Oud Zeer, made in collaboration with their friends Throwing Bricks, Immen and other friends close to their hearts, they have proven they are a band here to stay.
