Sophie Seng

Sophie Seng is a saxophone player, singer, and award-winning songwriter based in Austin, Texas. Her eclectic style pushes the boundaries of genre while maintaining a common thread of honesty and vulnerability.

She grew up in Davis, CA, where she studied jazz saxophone, classical piano, and voice. When she began songwriting, she developed a passion for exploring her emotions that she couldn't find words for through song.

The spirit of vulnerability, nostalgia, and empathy are at the heart of “Precipice,” Sophie's newest EP, released 11/3/2023. During a time of transition and new beginnings in her life, Sophie dove into this sonic world of hypnotic piano, soaring string arrangements, and compelling songwriting to slow down and process the world within and around her; past, present, and future.

Following the release of “Precipice,” Sophie embarked on her first tour around the American Southeast (with shows in Austin, Houston, New Orleans, Asheville, Nashville, Memphis, and Dallas) in partnership with Sofar Sounds. Along the way, she gained recognition for her song “Fake” by placing second in the Ozone Songwriter Contest, winning a new guitar and a performance slot at their songwriter festival in Louisiana.
